Introduction to the Mid-Island Childcare Alert List
Welcome to our new initiative designed to enhance connectivity between families and childcare opportunities within the mid-island area, including Nanaimo and Parksville. This system introduces the Nanaimo Childcare Waitlist and the Parksville Childcare Waitlist, aimed at streamlining the process of identifying available childcare spots. We continue to honor commitments to families on the Legacy Citywide Waitlist by ensuring they receive priority in the transition.
How It Works
- For Legacy Citywide Waitlist Members:
If you are already registered on our Legacy Citywide Waitlist, rest assured, your placement is prioritized. You do not need to subscribe to the new waitlists; we will contact you as spaces open, adhering to our promise.
- New Subscriptions to the Nanaimo and Parksville Childcare Waitlists:
New families are welcome to subscribe to either or both waitlists. Please note that a Gmail account is required to subscribe. If you do not have a Gmail account, you can create one for free. Subscriptions are flexible, allowing you to unsubscribe at any time. Following priority for the Legacy Citywide Waitlist, you will receive email alerts as childcare spots become available. These alerts will include detailed information about the organization, location, program specifics, available days, and timing.
- Receive Email Alerts:
Subscribers will receive email alerts detailing available spots—including organization, location, program and age group, days available, and times. This ensures everyone gets timely information to quickly reply if the space is suitable.
- Act Quickly & Secure Your Spot:
Prompt responses are crucial. Here’s the streamlined process:- Respond Quickly: Timeliness in replying to alerts increases your chances of securing a spot.
- Order of Contact: We contact families based on the order of received response emails.
- Phone Interview: The first family to respond will be contacted for a phone interview to discuss the suitability of the space.
- No Voicemail Policy: If you are unreachable, we proceed to the next family.
- Registration Fee: A non-refundable fee ($100 to $300 based on the program) is required to finalize your child’s enrollment. This fee is separate from monthly childcare fees and is transferable within our network at no extra cost.
